I question the use of that term here. Did they ask the horse if she would rather be killed or allow to live. There is no where for the horse to go? Isn't it sick that we bread animals for one purpose and when they can no longer serve that purpose of entertainment then we murder them. But, have the audacity to call it euthanasia. Just build a fence around some lands somewhere and let them run around like a real horse instead of killing them and placing the responsibility of the killing on the horse itself. Because that is all euthanasia is. Placing responsibility of a murder in the hands of the murdered. Next time the horse should have time to think about his or her options, bring in Dr. Phil, maybe they will choose life.
Eight Belles' trainer takes issue with PETA's call for Saez suspension
The trainer of euthanized filly Eight Belles said Monday his jockey handled the horse properly during her second-place finish at the Kentucky Derby.
