Closer than thought

Well, because of this, Clinton only netted 1 delegate in Indiana and Obama made that up with extra in NC. Unfortunately, today, her speech sounds a little pre-mature. There are reports that she has loaned herself extra money for the push and Tim Russert is saying that there is no way around the fact that Obama is the candidate. What is interesting is that they are finally starting to show that they should be with each other. Hilary said in her speech that no matter what she would support the candidate, so that is great news. The media portrayed the party divided and the two candidates helped a little, but now it is time to show a party supported top to bottom. Read the rest here: http://www.msnbc.msn.com/id/24481004/

Obama takes resounding victory in N.C.

Clinton apparently wins in Indiana in close race, NBC says

That had made Indiana a virtual must-win state for Clinton, who was hoping to counter Obama's delegate advantage with a strong run through the late primaries. With 99 percent of precincts reporting, the former first lady led 51 percent to 49 percent.

"This primary season may not be over, but when it is, we will have to remember who we are as Democrats," Obama said, "because we all agree that at this defining moment in history — a moment when we're facing two wars, an economy in turmoil, a planet in peril — we can't afford to give John McCain the chance to serve out George Bush's third term."

"Well, tonight we've come from behind, we've broken the tie, and thanks to you it's full speed on to the White House."

Horrible...

One town lost 10,000...So difficult to see all the horrid destruction without the proper preparation. Their army needs to relinquish power for the sake of the people. So sad to see. You wish that we would protect each other to limit the damage that nature can cause, but we have seen the problems and evidence of the one's with power doing nothing to help before or after.

Myanmar cyclone toll hits 15,000, official says

Foreign Minister Nyan Win said on state television that 10,000 people had died in just one town, Bogalay, as he gave the first detailed account of what is emerging as the worst cyclone to hit Asia since 1991, when 143,000 people were killed in Bangladesh.

The total left homeless by the storm's 120 mph winds and 12-foot storm surge is in the several hundred thousands, United Nations aid officials say, and could run into the millions.

"The regime has lost a golden opportunity to send the soldiers as soon as the storm stopped to win the heart and soul of people," said a retired civil servant.

The U.S. Embassy in Myanmar authorized the release of $250,000 in immediate emergency aid, and first lady Laura Bush, a critic of the junta, promised more would be forthcoming.

"The government misled people. They could have warned us about the severity of the coming cyclone so we could be better prepared," said Thin Thin, a grocery store owner.

Holy Money Batman...Iron Man killer

I didn't see it but that is a lot of money going into a weekend that did not have an associated holiday. Marvel is tearing up the movie industry. Who would have thought to make movies based on well-established nostalgic characters with associated story lines already established. Revolutionary! Wish I would have thought about that one...Thor huh? well edward norton already went to hulk... a bulked up brad pitt, he kinda has the hair?? The Avengers? who is going to play atom? I am still waiting on Johnny Quest...Race Bannon can be Patrick Warburton- Joe from Family Guy...Hadji can be kal Penn as long as he promises not to be over the top and of course Johnny should be Jim from the Office and it could be hysterical...add Fred Willard in there and its set..The rest of the article is here and talks more about their finances: http://biz.yahoo.com/bw/080505/20080505005656.html?.v=1

Iron Man Launches with #1 Opening Weekend Domestic Box Office of
$100.75 Million, the 2nd Best Non-Sequel Debut Ever, and Worldwide Box
Office of $201 Million

Marvel today updated its feature film slate strategy and plans for the
next three years, locking in key release windows for its character
franchises. In order to focus its attention on maximizing the success of
an Iron Man sequel and the launch of Thor in the summer of 2010
and because Marvel believes that the summer is the optimal time to
launch a new property, the Company will not release a self produced film
in 2009. Marvel plans to launch its 2010 film slate with the release of
the sequel, Iron Man 2, on April 30, 2010, followed by the launch
of Thor on June 4, 2010. Additionally, Marvel is planting its
feature film stakes for summer 2011 with an Avengers-themed summer
a two-picture project which will debut on May 6, 2011 with The First
Avenger: Captain America
(working title), followed by The Avengers
in July 2011.

Euthanized? Really

I question the use of that term here. Did they ask the horse if she would rather be killed or allow to live. There is no where for the horse to go? Isn't it sick that we bread animals for one purpose and when they can no longer serve that purpose of entertainment then we murder them. But, have the audacity to call it euthanasia. Just build a fence around some lands somewhere and let them run around like a real horse instead of killing them and placing the responsibility of the killing on the horse itself. Because that is all euthanasia is. Placing responsibility of a murder in the hands of the murdered. Next time the horse should have time to think about his or her options, bring in Dr. Phil, maybe they will choose life.

Gas Tax Holiday?

You have got to be kidding. Most economists are against it? How about all are against it. This is similar to what we have with Bush. Every economist who is not under Bush's payroll says Iraq is a bad idea because we cannot afford it. Every economist says the tax break is ridiculous because it will not have any benefits and through us into more of a deficit, because we all know that the oil companies will not pay the entire tax. In response to her critics, she calls everyone against her out of touch and elitest. God forbid we have a president that listens to educated people. This is an elementary childish argument saying that everyone who disagrees is against the people, and a fallacy. Clinton is buying into the same type of economy that Bush has given us. We cannot afford to be in Iraq and response they lower taxes. If anything taxes need to be raised to actually pay for what we do. Clinton will just do the same thing. And she is showing it right now

Clinton, Obama predict fight to June 3

Gas tax holiday is battlefront day before North Carolina, Indiana primaries

"He is attacking Hillary's plan to give you a break on gas prices because he doesn't have one," says the ad. "Hillary wants the oil companies to pay for the gas tax this summer — so you don't have to."

Obama has accused Clinton of pandering with the proposal, and many economists are against it.

"Let's listen to what the people are telling us ... because if we listen, we will hear this incredible cry," Clinton said, keeping up her populist pitch before a couple hundred people in a gymnasium at Pitt Community College.

Homegrown pride

When was the last time we cheered for a team that had stars from the same area the team played in? Tare any of the Yankees or Partriots from their New York or new england, respectively. It is good to see someone with that area pride. Plus, he went to my elementary school! Good job J.T. let's see what else is to come from this Aggie.

J.T., Come on Down!

Sifting through Mike Nolan's comments at the conclusion of the 49ers' three-day minicamp yesterday, one statement stands out from the chafe of mostly insignificant sentences: "...probably the biggest impression that I got out of the quarterback position is that it is probably going to be a three-man race rather than just two. I think J.T. O’Sullivan, as (the competition) goes, is going to be in the thick of it," Nolan declared.

Former UC Davis star J.T. O'Sullivan is jumping into the QB competition

While fortunes can change swiftly, Hill appears destined to once again be the third-stringer. Smith was just handed seven mil in a roster bonus, and O'Sullivan is Martz's boy. He was always pushing the former UC Davis Aggie while in Detroit. Thus, the real competition might shape up between O'Sullivan and Smith and it might be the best thing for Smith if O'Sullivan won. In the Nolan era, coaches have consistently undervalued the learning process.

McCain - and his Pastor friend

This pastor endorses McCain but the media does not bash him because he is not apart of his congregation? let's be clear about a few things. Obama never said he endorses what Wright preached like McCain did. McCain took Hagee's endorsement while standing with him and he did not know what he was about? What kind of campaign does not look into the background of the endorsers? I do not know how a person can get very close with a pastor like the media claims barack to have. Why would the pastor be a mentor? Shouldn't we believe Barack took a political mentor and not soley a spiritual one? This association stuff is crap that the media is feeding the same mindless people who voted for a second round of bush...is there no honor left for the media?

The All-White Elephant in the Room

What you’ll find is a white televangelist, the Rev. John Hagee, lecturing in front of an enormous diorama. Wielding a pointer, he pokes at the image of a woman with Pamela Anderson-sized breasts, her hand raising a golden chalice. The woman is “the Great Whore,” Mr. Hagee explains, and she is drinking “the blood of the Jewish people.” That’s because the Great Whore represents “the Roman Church,” which, in his view, has thirsted for Jewish blood throughout history, from the Crusades to the Holocaust.

Mr. McCain says he does not endorse any of Mr. Hagee’s calumnies, any more than Barack Obama endorses Mr. Wright’s. But those who try to give Mr. McCain a pass for his embrace of a problematic preacher have a thin case. It boils down to this: Mr. McCain was not a parishioner for 20 years at Mr. Hagee’s church.
